Sourcing the parts

PhysiClaw’s hardware favors standard, off-the-shelf parts, which are easy to source, low-cost, and reliable. The custom parts are 3D-printed.

A full set of parts costs around ¥1,000 (RMB), excluding shipping. Before ordering, read through the assembly manual to fully understand the hardware. When purchasing, check each item against the bill of materials to make sure nothing is missing and quantities are correct. Any omission means another order and more time lost to shipping.

All suppliers listed are Taobao stores based in mainland China and require a Taobao account to view product details. If you’re outside mainland China, these stores may not ship to your region, and prices may vary. Contributions of suppliers for other regions are welcome.

3D printing process

Print PhysiClaw’s custom parts in black PA12 nylon using powder bed fusion (SLS or MJF). Common FDM printing tends to leave holes out of round and distorted, which throws off the fit.
